Darlene Young

DARLENE YOUNG is the author of three poetry collections (Count Me In, Signature 2024; Here, BCC Press 2023; and Homespun and Angel Feathers, BCC, 2019), two of which received the prize for poetry from the Association for Mormon Letters. She is also the lyricist for an original ballet/art production, “A Brief Collection of Moments,” which premiered in Provo, Utah in April, 2026. A recipient of the Smith-Pettit Foundation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Mormon Letters, she teaches writing at Brigham Young University and has served as poetry editor for Dialogue and Segullah journals. Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals, has been noted in Best American Essays, and has been nominated for Pushcart Prizes. She has presented in workshops such as LDSPMA and at conferences such as Mormon Scholars in the Humanities. In 2024, she appeared as the featured writer at the undergraduate writing conference at the College of Southern Idaho and completed a residency at the Center for LDS Arts in New York City.
